Welcome to Gostate.org

This is the archive of older Gostate.org webpages. GoState is the voice of the movement for a balanced state-city identity at "San Jose State", which was founded as the California State Normal School (1862-1921) and is the school from which the entire CSU system grew.

CSU Restoration Goals

The CSU restoration movment in San Jose seeks achievement of the following goals for San Jose's CSU campus, its students, graduates, the CSU system and the State of California. We have also developed a CSU restoration program to try to achieve these goals.

1.   Upgrade Value of Degrees -- Upgrade and enhance the value of "SJSU" degrees by restoring the more prestigious and nationally recognizable "California State University" part of the school's identity, and by restoring recognition of the school's stature as the original CSU and oldest public institution of higher learning in California.

2.   Help Revitalize Downtown San Jose -- Using the more nationally and internationally recognizable original identity (California State), help revitalize San Jose's still-moribund downtown by bringing a greater number of residential students to the downtown area.

[more to come].

The CSU Fresno Seal. If even "Fresno State" can honor its state identity, why can't the original CSU in San Jose?
